When the Gulf Coast Wrestling Association ventured into Montgomery in August of 1963, the matches were held at Paterson Field.

Paterson Field has been used mainly as a baseball stadium for Minor league, college and high school baseball. It served as the home for the Detroit Tigers AA team, the Montgomery Rebels and the Montgomery Wings, an independent minor league team. It was also home to the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship from 1985 to 2004. It is still in use today.
