The Meridian Sports Center was part of a large entertainment complex owned by A.L. Royal of Meridian, MS. The building was on the Mississippi-Alabama Fairgrounds, which were adjacent to the Royal Drive-In and the Royal Land Amusement Park. The entire complex is still standing but had been abandoned for years, although the property is still owned by the Royal family.
