The Pensacola Interstate Fairgrounds broke ground in 1968 to give a permanent home to the annual Interstate Fair, with the first fair being held in 1969. ┬áThe fairgrounds was briefly the home of wrestling in Pensacola for the early part of 1970. The fairgrounds have been owned and operated by John Frenkel Jr., whose involvement with the fair dated by to the 1930s. His son, John Frenkel II is the current owner and operator of the fairgrounds. Frenkel III has a wrestling connection as he competed professionally for several years under the moniker “Hollywood John Tatum”.
